This Bilboquet is a a cup and ball game. It is a stylized version, in that the "cup" is a paddle with a hole in it. The intent is to throw the tethered ball into the air and catch it in the paddle hole as the ball falls. The tether is short, and both the paddle and the ball are made of a light-weight wood. These factors make it easy to control the equipment using only one hand. This suggests that the manufacturer intended this version for the use of children.
This Bilboquet was purchased in 1976 from a shop in Helsinki, Finland. It was made by Aarikka. The game is machine made of painted wood. The handle is in the shape of a paddle 18.4cm long x 5.4cm wide x .9cm thick, with a 4.2cm hole cut into the center as the "cup" The solid wooden ball is 3cm in diameter, tethered to the paddle with a string attached at the top.
